When someone close to you passes away, I assume it is only natural to want to covet some of their personal effects. The question is, what types of items are acceptable to cling to and for how long?
This is an excerpt from a birthday card my mother wrote to her mother shortly before she died, 19 years ago. I found this hidden amongst the deceased's tea set, which is still on display, but never used. To be a bit lenient for a change, I'll admit it's okay to keep a birthday card you received from your dead mother. But to sock away a memento you dedicated to your dead mother nearly two decades ago is just ludicrous.
